Professor Junichi Okabe, Faculty of International Social Sciences, Yokohama National University, passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021.
Professor Okabe joined Yokohama National University in October 2004. He provided education and research guidance in the undergraduate and the graduate school of Department of Economics through lectures and seminars on economic statistics and nurtured many outstanding scholars and citizens. In research, he specialized in economic statistics and focused on the statistical system of rural India. Through collaboration with the international research institutes in India, he tried to analyze the actual situation more closely and published many research findings.
