Overview

What is CESSA?

Center for Economic and Social Studies in Asia (CESSA), Department of Economics, Yokohama National University (YNU) was founded in April 2012, with the financial support of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). The purpose of CESSA is to improve the quality of research and education at YNU and also to publish research in the field of economic and social studies in Asia.

Research Division

CESSA plays a central role in organizing and promoting joint research projects at the Department of Economics. Empirical and policy-oriented research is conducted on regional economic and social integration and socio-economic development in Asia.

Statistics Division

1. Database: ReCESSA

CESSA is constructing two databases below.

They are posted on the website of the Research Center for Economic and Social Statistics in Asia (ReCESSA), which was launched in April 2012, as a part of the research project of CESSA. The purpose of ReCESSA is to construct and publish several databases on Asian economic and social statistics.

In collaboration with the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry (RIETI), CESSA is constructing another new database of effective exchange rates:

This database is published on the website of RIETI.

2. Library Collection

Taking over from Center for International Trade Studies (CITS) that was established in 1978, CESSA possesses a rich library collection that covers annual reports, statistics, bulletins, journals on economics and the related fields.
