The visit to the Gold Coast campus of Griffith University focused on ‘Prospects for green hydrogen trade between Japan and Australia.’ Profesor Alexander McAulay took charge of this leg of the program, and accompanied the participants to Australia. Dr. Alexandr Akimov of Griffith University work hard to collaborate with YNU staff and students to bring the program to fruition. The YNU students researched the topic set by Dr. Akimov and presented their findings to an audience at Griffith. In addition, the sojourn included participation in various classes such as Global Investment & Management, and Sustainable Economics. There was a study tour to Brisbane, as well as participation in Clean Up Australia Day.

The SXIP program is project-based, challenging students to work intensively in collaboration with an overseas partner university. The YNU students not only presented in Gold Coast, they also took part in a SXIP forum on the YNU campus in September 2023 that featured delegates from various universities in India and Australia. These main events were supplemented with various activities related to Australian culture and society, with a particular focus on sustainability.

The students stayed with homestay hosts, which gave them the experience of authentic family life Down Under.
The SXIP sojourn was an intensive itinerary of academic and cultural activities that will enhance the participants’ understanding of the sustainability challenges faced by global society. We hope to offer the opportunity to visit Griffith University again to Economics students in the new academic year.
